Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia kills 5 people

AN AMTRAK train bound for New York City derailed and tipped over in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, mangling the front of it.
At least five people were killed and more than 140 passengers were taken to hospital. Six remain critically injured, officials said.
Train 188, a Northeast Regional, had left Washington DC and was headed to New York when it derailed shortly after 9pm on Tuesday (May 12). Amtrak said the train was carrying 238 passengers and five crew members.
As the investigation into the crash begins, Mayor Michael Nutter, who confirmed the deaths, described the derailment as ‘an absolute disastrous mess’. He said all seven carriages, including the engine, were in ‘various stages of disarray’. At this stage there is no evidence of terrorist involvement, according to officials.
