Classic car rally

THE 2nd L’Alfas del Pi Granada classic car rally is to be held from Sunday May 17 until Saturday May 23, covering 1,130 kilometres between L’Alfas del Pi and Granada, with stops at Librilla and Cullar as well as a stretch of the Sierra Nevada Mountain, with more than 150 classic cars taking part.
On Saturday May 16 there will be a showcase of the vintage cars on the forecourt of the Casa de Cultura in L’Alfas del Pi.
Willy Claeys, President of the European Classic Car club, said: “We are proud to have such a diverse range of cars this year. Some date from 1916 but have all been restored to their former glory.”
Joining the Classic Car Club is not all about age. As Willy said, “You will see many cars with an H prefix which denotes they are over 25 years old, but age will not guarantee a car entry to the club – styling and special features are important.”
Although many of the cars are priceless, members believe that they need to be enjoyed and not just regarded as showpieces.
Participants will enjoy a Gala dinner and an awards ceremony before heading back home on Saturday May 23.
