ANDY MURRAY overwhelmed Rafa Nadal in the Madrid Open final to land his second clay title in a week, and his first Masters crown on the dirt.
The 27-year-old Scot, who produced his finest performance in nearly two years to dethrone the king of clay with a stunning 6-3, 6-2 victory in the final of the Madrid Open, wrote ‘marriage works’ on the screen of the TV camera before picking up the trophy.
This was Murray’s 10th Masters level title, and he was hinting at his success being due in part to his recent wedding. “I have always said that when your private life is under control and you are happy, that helps you on court,” he told Sky Sports afterwards.
