FIFTEEN people have been arrested in Malaga in connection with registering fictitious relationships to legalise immigrants’ situations. An investigation began in January in Soria when couples consisting of young women from Malaga and African men presented themselves at a number of town halls in the northern province explaining they wanted to register as residents in the towns as couples. The number of similar cases caused suspicion, and the Guardia Civil was called in to investigate, discovering a group which allegedly used the certificates given to the couples to obtain residence permits for the men, who are believed to have paid between €3,000 and €5,000 each.
