SEVERAL towns from across the Costa Tropical are currently undergoing ‘Catastro’ inspections. The Catastro registry helps authorities calculate the amount of property taxes that each owner must pay.The coastal towns currently undergoing inspections are Motril, Itrabo, Jete, Molvizar, Orgiva and Otivar.Aerial pictures are used to compare the data registered in the Catastro to the physical reality of an area, and together with the inspectors, the authorities can find out whether or not an owner has carried out illegal constructions on their property. If there is an irregularity, the owner is notified by letter and given a period of time to present their documents.
