THE newborn royal princess will be called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced.
In a tweet from Kensington Palace, the couple explained they were delighted to announce that their daughter, born on Saturday morning (May 2), will be known as “Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.”
Although Charlotte had been the favourite since the birth of a girl had been announced on Saturday, bookmakers said that Alice had knocked Charlotte out of the top spot in a flurry of last minute bets which saw approximately £1 million (€1.35 million) wagered on the name the couple would choose for their second child.
