THREE dead loggerhead turtles were recently found in the same day on three different Almeria beaches.
The smallest was discovered in Almerimar and had swallowed neither fishhooks nor plastic, said the experts who later examined it.
The bigger turtles found on Mojacar and Cabo de Gata beaches both had cracked shells, although it was impossible to determine if this had happened before or after death, biologists explained.
Loggerhead turtles are threatened with extinction and Equinac, which is authorised to rescue these and other protected species in Almeria Province, advised the public to ring the 112 number on encountering these or other marine creature in difficulties.
