Two injured by tractor at country fair pilgrimage

TWO women were hit and injured by a tractor during the San Isidro Labrado pilgrimage in Los Barrios.

Both were taken to hospital in Algeciras, and one of the women, who was eight months pregnant, was given an emergency Caesarean section.

Local Mayor Jorge Romero explained after visiting the hospital that the two women and baby were all in stable condition and that an investigation would be carried out into the circumstances behind the accident. He added that the tractor driver had passed breathalyser tests and initial reports stated that the tractor slid downhill out of control, possibly due to a mechanical fault.
