British girl paralysed after four-storey fall

A 21-YEAR-OLD British gymnast has been left paralysed from the neck down after falling 50 feet from a hotel balcony in Salou, Spain.

Dina Amos-Larkin, a law student who represents Great Britain on the trampoline, was talking to her mother on the phone when the accident occurred on April 3. She was put into a medically induced coma for two weeks while her injuries were treated, and only found out about her paralysis when she was brought round last week.

Dina refuted claims made initially by the authorities that the fall was a suicide bid, and told the Daily Mirror: “That isn’t the case, I spent the day doing sport and went drinking in the evening, but wasn’t drunk. The balcony rail was lower than my waist and I think I just leaned back too far.”

Her ordeal, however, continues. The student from Poole, Dorset, claimed she was now stranded in hospital as she was waiting for her insurer AXA to review her case. A GoFundMe page has since been set up in an attempt to raise £20,000 to get her home, where nearly £14,000 has already been raised.
