Bamba has it licked at ADANA’s 25th anniversary dog show

ON Sunday April 26 many dogs put their best paw forward and took part in the 25th Anniversary ADANA dog show.

Organisers David MaNally and Jayne Fisher opened the doors of the Palacio de Congreso in Estepona to be engulfed in the awaiting crowds who were eager to show their pooches in all their glory.

Registration took place at 11am and the show commenced at 12noon with 20 categories to be judged, including best puppy, best trick, obedience, musical sit, and many more.

The best puppy went to Cerro with proud owner, Janet Kelly. Paloma King won as her dog, Frankie, looked most like the owner, and Mr Estepona was won by cheeky little chap, Pico, who got a pat on the back from owner Tom Wilkinson.

Other dogs waited with bated breath to see who could jump the highest and some bit off more than they could chew as none leaped as high as Max with his owner, Karen, by his side.

Amidst all the excitement, there was a bark break for the contestants as the Police Dogs took to the ring to show them all how it is done. This display was not to be sniffed at as this showed how the police work their dogs to trail the scent of anything, event money!

The show continued after the display where the judges had to choose their favourite, which was no easy task and after studying hard, the Best in Show was licked by Bamba. Owner Javier del Rio Osorio proudly picked up the cup, sponsored by Euro Weekly News, and it was presented by Mike Gregory of The Atlas Group, who has given generously to ADANA. The previous cup had been lost so the EWN stepped in to support the show, and it was well worth it.

There were many stalls present selling their wares and demonstrating their services, including Robsat, Ibex Insurance, Andalucia Glass & Steel, Dog Groomers, and many more. The day was a great success and pooches of all shapes and sizes went home with lots of treats.

The ADANA dogs up for adoption gave a great parade, one was adopted on the day. There are many more that need their forever home, please visit the website www.adana.es – you are sure to pick a winner!

ADANA would like to thank all sponsors. Navarrozoovet gave the food prizes to all the winners, and others sponsored the categories: Pointer Clinic, DHS Sound and Vision, Trayectorias Proyectos, Cinica Vet Tamara, Jayne and Bill Fisher, Arabella and Mark Graham, Tommy and John, Joan Thompson, Clinica Vet Puerto Alto, Silvie and Sophie, Viva Estates, Venta Garcia, El Pilar, Aquarius Trust Group, Clinica Vet Mediterraneo, Jackie and Paul, Joan and Richard, Rafa and Tom.
