THE Guardia Civil in Melilla has recovered €10,000 worth of goods including 65 mobile phones which had been stolen in Malaga City.

The items were found inside a car that arrived in Melilla port. Officers found the vehicle suspicious and decided to search it, finding bags and luggage containing mobile phones, cameras and computers wrapped in clothing.

The driver claimed to have bought the goods, which were confiscated until the police could find out where they had come from, at a car boot sale in Malaga.

Investigations found that many had been snatched from their owners on Malaga City streets, and have so far tracked down nine owners.

Meanwhile the 52-year-old Moroccan driver, who lives in Malaga, was arrested for allegedly receiving stolen goods.
