IBRAHIM AL DURI, who was Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s right hand man and led the resistance against the US and allies after the invasion, is reported to have died.
According to reports from Iraqi officials, Ibrahim al Duri died during an operation east of the city of Tikrit. His body was sent back to Baghdad for DNA analysis in order for the authorities to confirm his identity.
Al Duri, known as Ginger, was part of the establishment that the US forces had earmarked for discover and capture. However, he managed to allude US troops who after many years gave up. The hard man of the Iraqi resistance until this time has remained at large.
Khdhayer Almurshidy, spokesman for Al Duri´s Baath party and the leadership of the former Iraqi regime, said that the information is false.
