THE Suarez wetlands, one of the most important natural monuments in Motril, will receive €140,000 from the government to perform renovation works.
“This protected space is a unique site which has received more than 44,000 visits since it was opened to public in 2006 and has a population of more than 160 bird species, amongst which are several at risk of extinction,” said the town mayor, Luisa Garcia Chamorro.
The budget has been allocated to adapt a total of 13.8 hectares as a park and picnic area.
Works will be paid for by the European Fund for Fishing Activities, together with the Junta de Andalucia regional government.
