WORK is set to start on the Artola Dunes near Marbella.

Due to take eight months and cost €1.1 million, the work has been awarded to Assignia and announced in the Official State Bulletin (BOE).

The project includes creation of paths and wooden walkways to all visitors to walk in the area and reach the beach while stopping vehicles from entering, thus protecting the nature area.

Wooden litter bins, benches and informative signs will be put in place to encourage visitors, and carparks are also planned outside the dunes themselves.

One of the most important aspects of the projects is to replant native vegetation and eliminate invasive species, and extra trees are also planned to be planted around the edge of the dunes to further protect the area.
