A SCHOOL bus driver that police spotted using a mobile phone at the wheel also tested positive for alcohol.
Antequera traffic police on patrol saw the driver talking on his mobile yesterday, April 8, on the A45 motorway towards Malaga.
The bus, which was carrying 32 youngsters aged between 12 and 14 and two teachers, was pulled over and the driver given a Breathalyser test, which gave a result of 0.26 milligrams per litre, 0.11 over the legal limit.
Inspection of the driver’s register also found that he had not respected transport regulations regarding hours at the wheel and rest periods.
To avoid danger to the young passengers, the officers decided to immobilise the bus at a nearby service station, where the group had to wait for another driver to arrive and take over.
