THE mayor of Javea, José Chulvi, and the councillor for Equality, Empar Bolufer, attended the Casa de Cultura launch of two guides newly published by the Alicante Provincial Council, aimed at helping combat gender-based violence.
The first book is about the welfare rights available to victims of violent domestic abuse and the other about children exposed to domestic violence, by Carmelo Hernández Ramos, psychologist and lawyer, and political scientist Jose Pablo Cuéllar Otto.
The mayor and the councillor observed the importance of raising awareness of this grave problem within the community following the recent murder of a resident at the hands of her husband just a few weeks ago.
