THE former Casa Ruiz of Motril has been reopened and turned into a new art centre named after Granada-born painter Jose Hernandez Quero.
The town council has carried out a comprehensive series of renovations in the building, which was one of the last representations of palace architecture preserved in the town. The project cost more than €1 million.
Mayor of the town, Luisa Garcia Chamorro, together with Mr Hernandez, have inaugurated the centre, which will be home to the private art collection of the artist as well as his private library, with more than 5,000 books, which he has donated to the town.
