RECYCLED: John Power and his recycled daffodils with added chickens.
THE annual Easter Bonnet competition and lunch held by the International Navy League of the United States – Levante Council at Puerto Blanco, Calpe, was certainly colourful. Helping to celebrate the occasion were guests of honour, European president Nicholas Hayes, and his wife, Sheila, who graciously agreed to be chief judge – no easy task given the spectacular variety and sheer ingenuity of the hats on display!
Leila Lawton won the prize for the most stylish bonnet, and Irishman John Power won the most creative prize sporting his recycled St David’s Day daffodil hat with added Easter chicken decorations. Jaine Dacres in an outrageously flamboyant feather confection deservedly won the ‘you-must-be-joking’ prize.
The Council´s next lunch is on Saturday, April 25 at Puerto Blanco. New members of any nationality are always welcome. Call Judith for information on 965 747 588.
