Princesses in Palma

PRINCESS Leonor of Asturias and her sister Infanta Sofia are to reappear in public after a six-month absence for Easter Sunday Mass at Palma Cathedral.

The Spanish Royal Family, although changing, is proving to keep up many traditions and Easter in Mallorca is one of them.

King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their daughters will be joining former queen Doña Sofia at Marivent Palace royal holiday residence and attending the Mass, which has become a yearly family event.

The country is waiting almost with bated breath for another glimpse of the young princesses, who have not appeared in public since a traditional military parade on October 12.

Although a recent photo of Leonor and Sofia is usually used for the family Christmas card, fans were disappointed last December as the king and queen replaced this with pictures of their coronation.

Doña Sofia was the first to arrive on the island and has been spotted with her sister Irene at a number of events including a charity concert by the Balearics Symphony Orchestra.

In fact the former queen’s love of the area has been increasingly in evidence since her son’s coronation, as she is spending more and more time at Marivent and is usually the first family member to arrive and the last to leave.
