COIN became a virtual ghost town on Tuesday, March 31, as almost everyone was glued to the television to watch local footballer Juanmi play his first match for Spain.
Most of the town had been talking about Juanmi since he was called to play for his country by national coach Vicente del Bosque and waiting for his debut.
Although Holland won 2-0, the friendly match gave the footballer’s hometown fans reason to declare they thought he was in fine form.
“It was a shame the rest of the team wasn’t helping, otherwise Juanmi could have scored,” said Miguel Cortes, president of Peña Malaguistas del Guadalhorce ‘Juanmi’.
