THE Science Museum of the Vega Baja is to double its space and receive an extra €50,000 for staffing.
The two rooms that make up the Museum of Science (MUDIC) located on the Orihuela campus of the University Miguel Hernandez, are being enlarged to occupy the entire building of La Noria II, which will incorporate its two existing facilities, a planetarium and a space dedicated for students.
The refurbishment will be completed before the end of this academic year according to Orihuela’s councillor for Education, Rosa Martinez, who said there was great demand from schools requesting to visit the exhibition hall. As a result, the budget for staff and guides will also be increased.
Since opening in 2008, the museum has attracted 25,000 schoolchildren.
