MERCADONA supermarket chain, under an agreement reached with Malaga Food Bank, has handed over 5,340 kilos of goods for the needy.
The chain has announced it will once again be taking part in projects this year to collect supplies for the food bank, which distributes to a number of charities in Malaga Province, and 75 supermarkets will be taking part in this year’s Gran Recogida (Great Collection) event.
Malaga Food Bank president Javier Peña said the organisation was extremely grateful that companies including Mercadona collaborate, while the supermarket chain representative Francisco J Rodriguez thanked the charity for its work with those in need and offered the Mercadona stores as collection points for its campaigns.
The Malaga Food Bank Foundation (www.bancosol.info) is a non-profit organisation based on volunteer work which has been managing and distributing food to charities and people in need in the province since 1998.
