THE 20 schoolchildren in La Cala del Moral (Rincon de la Victoria) who stopped attending school due to attacks from a girl with special needs are undergoing psychological evaluation.

The children, who are currently in their 4th year of primary school (approximately nine years old), started receiving psychological assistance provided by professionals of the Junta de Andalucia regional government.

The childrens’ parents claim that a classmate with autism is constantly insulting and physically attacking their children, causing them great fear to the point of not wanting to attend class.

According to information provided by online paper SUR, these psychologists will evaluate through interviews with the children their levels of stress and anxiety produced by their classmate.

“What we are trying to find out is whether the rights of the girl, which we respect, are above the rights of her 20 classmates,” said one of the fathers to SUR, who continued: “We just want the best solution for everyone.”

On the other hand, the representative of the girl’s parents,’ Francisco Arjona said they felt discriminated against and that they had not been informed of a psychological evaluation been performed on the children.
