THE Guardia Civil and National Police were out on election day to ensure a peaceful ballot.
To the 1,085 Guardia Civil members and 444 National Police officers were added 249 members of the Local Police, the Interior ministry revealed.
The first shifts went on duty at midnight last Saturday at the 323 polling stations that were set up for the regional elections throughout Almeria province. Units remained on guard until 8am on Monday when vote-counting concluded.
