MAYOR of Velez-Malaga, Francisco Delgado Bonillo, launched a charity campaign called ‘Building their future,’ which aims to collect old mobile phones in order to raise funds for education projects in the Dominican Republic.
During the presentation Mr Delgado was accompanied by the Education councillor, Aurora Diaz, and other council representatives.
Four of the town’s schools will participate in collecting phones, and after April 30 the centre that has collected most will win a price.
“We not only want schools to join the campaign, but also each and every member of the Velez-Malaga community, as this is a project that deserves our support, “said the mayor.
He thanked the La Axarquia school and its director for organising the campaign and locals for making the effort to recycle their old phones for the charity.
For every mobile phone collected, Orange will donate €2.50 to UNICEF.
