Ojen.
A COSTA del Sol village has beaten popular European cities including Paris, Rome and Stockholm on the Sunday Times’ Global Best Places To Live top 50 list.
Just four places in Spain were included on the list: Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Zahara de los Atunes in Cadiz and Ojen, a village with 3,000 inhabitants, which sits between the Costa del Sol and the Sierra de las Nieves, soon to become Andalucia’s third nature reserve.
Ojen was placed 35th on the prestigious list, which is drawn up each year by the British newspaper’s travel writers taking into account factors including quality of life, infrastructures, gastronomy, climate, surroundings and how easily British expatriates are accepted socially.
Local mayor, Jose Antonio Gomez, said: “We hope this important news consolidates Ojen as a top-quality tourist destination for visitors to get an authentic taste of Andalucia and the perfect addition to sun and sea holidays in nearby Marbella.”
