SPANISH development minister, Ana Pastor, has stated that Renfe, the Spanish train company will remain a public company.
She also announced that by the middle of this year all Renfe stations would have public wifi services and wifi connection would be available on all trains by the end of the year.
Renfe also want to purchase an additional 40 trains as part of an investment of €1.8 billion. This is part of a long-term plan to review the ‘status and future’ of the Spanish rail sector. The exact type of the trains to be purchased has yet to be determined, although many might well be high-speed models.
