SEASON STARTS: More flights from Alicante-Elche airport from end of March.
FOLLOWING the bank holiday’s bad weather, thoughts are now turning to Easter and hopes for better conditions.
The success of the Easter season is often marked by the weather with much of the tourism coming from domestic travellers who make last-minute bookings. A positive Easter is often the barometer for how successful the summer season will be.
Human resources company Adecco says a 7 per cent growth in employment is expected for this Easter and Renfe is running additional trains from Madrid to Alicante with an extra 8,000 seats available. Holy Week also marks the start of the main tourist season at Alicante-Elche airport with most companies increasing flight services ready for the summer from the end of March.
Provincial Deputy for Tourism, Joaquin Albaladejo said the outlook for Easter was “good” and perceived a “willingness to spend.” Cost Blanca Tourism launches its promotional campaign this week on billboards and buses, particularly in Madrid, to entice more tourists.
