MIJAS CHEMISTS: Helped solve the problem of what to do with used syringes.
DIABETES sufferers and others with medical conditions that require them to use syringes now have somewhere to safely hand them in for correct disposal.
After asking the Andalucian Health Service for a solution to the problem, which many people had mentioned to the council, Mijas Health Councillor Mar Rios said that local chemists stepped in and offered to collect syringes.
So far seven Mijas chemists have installed containers for the used medical items, at La Butibamba in La Cala, Avenida de Mexico in the village, El Coto, Calle La Union, Avenida de Mijas, Calle San Bartolome and Doña Ermita in Las Lagunas.
“Taking used syringes to these places means they will be correctly disposed of,” Rios said.
