Almeria’s dolphins swimming pretty

THE dolphin fountain in Nicolas Salmeron park in Almeria City has had a facelift.

The dolphins have received a new coat of paint, replacing the sun-bleached, muted colours with a more authentic effect. For the restoration work the city employed the services of artist Nico, who is particularly skilled in paint effects.

Councillor for the area, Esteban Rodriguez, explained: “What we have done is try to reproduce the original colour before it was corrupted by the sun. We have used a combination of colours, among which green and black were prominent, to get the bronze tone. This has finally been achieved.”

In addition to painting the dolphins in the structure, the glass was cleaned and a complete overhaul of the lighting was carried out, replacing any broken lamps as necessary.
