Drunken police urinate on separatists’ flag

An off-duty policeman has had his wrists slapped for making fun of, and urinating on the ‘estelada’ flag.

The officer, along with three other off-duty policemen, (who had been sent to the region by the Ministry of the Interior as part of a reinforcement group to aid local officers after months of riots), drunkenly started making fun of the flag and the Catalonian independence movement before taking the flag down and urinating on it. 

According to the Spanish daily 20 minutos, the customers in the bar became concerned and telephoned the police who arrived immediately and removed the drunkards. However, it would appear that it’s unlikely any charges would be brought against the officers, and according to local newspaper El Punt Avui, the Catalan police did not want to comment because no official report was filed.
