Oklahoma in full swing

VERITY HALL: taking the lead in Studio 32's Oklahoma

THE dates for Studio32’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma have now been set for June 4-6 at the Cardenal Belluga Theatre in San Fulgencio.

Heading the cast in her first principal roll as Laurey will be 17 year-old Studio32 newcomer Verity Jo Spencer Hall. Verity has already appeared as Georgina in the locally filmed production of ‘The Cucaracha Club’ and played the leading role as Samantha in radio play ‘The Numbers Game.’

Verity is looking forward to this new challenge and with the expert guidance of Show Director Susan Wilson and support of the more experienced members of the cast is confident of meeting the expectations of the role.

Verity has ambitions to work in musical theatre in the future and sees this role as an important stepping stone to her achieving her aims.

As well as the cast learning lines, dances and songs, the backstage crew are at full stretch building the set, making costumes and props. Carpenter John Murrell has been making an impressive full size Surrey with a fringe on top (carriage), whilst wardrobe manager Jean Wilkinson and her team and small props manager, Paula Whitbread are busy making the 40 costumes and small props required for the cast.
