CHILDREN taking equine therapy classes at Mijas Racecourse will be protected from bad weather as of next month by a wall being built around the arena they ride in.
When the council’s sports department took the service over it was moved to a covered ring to protect the children from rain and strong sunshine, yet wind was still a problem as the new ring had a roof but open sides.
A new 2.3 metre-high wall is now being built to protect it from the wind and avoid classes having to be cancelled due to bad weather conditions.
Mijas was a pioneer in the province in offering equine therapy to children with disabilities and 37 children currently attend the classes.
