EXPATRIATE group and club members were invited on a visit to AFA Alzheimer Centre by Mijas Foreigners Department.
People from Age Care, Danish Church, Norwegian Church, Danish Club, Club El Faro Live, Amigos de Mijas, La Cala Lions Club and Deutscher Club visited the centre, which many had no idea existed.
The visit was reported to be a total success by the council department and an agreement was reached for the groups to collaborate with an interpreter volunteer programmed coordinated by Mijas Foreigners Department to tend to people at the centre in their mother tongues.
“This initiative is going to help many people, and we are very impressed with the building, but most of all with the team, not only for the excellent service they are giving but for the effort they have made to put this centre together and getting it up and working, which is so necessary in Mijas and Fuengirola,” Annette Skou from the department said.
At the end of the event, Norwegian artist Astrid Frida Zehtner donated two paintings to AFA.
