THE town of La Linea will leap onto German TV screens this year as the host of the final stage of a popular cookery competition.
Cooking Cup, organised by Eat Smarter magazine in collaboration with Siemens, challenges couples to compete to cook traditional recipes based on local products in 12 different cities over a six-month period.
This year’s edition has been named Cooking Cup Andalucian Cuisine in honour of the location for the final, the Aldiana Alcaidesa hotel complex in La Linea, where the five finalist couples will compete to win.
Tourism and Commerce delegate for the Junta de Andalucia regional government, Luciano Alonso, explained that the agreement to host the final will attract German viewers, already one of the largest importers of products from the region, to visit and taste the local flavours for themselves.
