COUNCILLORS Mari Paz Bonet, Alonso Soler, Isabel Paredes and Bernado Simon have resigned from the council in Garrucha and the Partido Popular (PP).
This leaves the town’s mayor ruling in a minority. According to the councillors, the decision was motivated by a host of reasons, including differences in working methods as a team as well as what they described as undemocratic activities in Almeria Province’s Partido Popular.
The councillors have waived all job roles and activities, with immediate effect, as well as all privileges associated with the roles, including offices, mobile telephones and salaries. They have suggested the mayor uses the saved money to pay a number of sports monitors in the town that have been without payment.
The councillors said they wished to thank Garrucha’s residents for the support they had received over the years and to convey that the new configuration of the town council should not prejudice the general interests of the municipality in any way.
