THE Ornithological Group of the Balearic Islands (GOB) has urged the government to prohibit low-altitude flights around the area of Salobrar de Campos, as they disturb birds.
In a statement released by the association, it is claimed that the flights scare away birds that rest and raise their chicks during their migratory route.
GOB states that Salobrar de Campos is part of the Zone for Special Proteccion of Birds (ZEPA), but does not have specific regulations regarding flights above the area.
“We would like to call on the responsibility of all pilots, so that they abstain from flying over the area of Salobrar de Campos,” the statement reads.
