RESIDENTS from Inca are claiming that a property in the Camino de Biniamar is being used as an illegal rubbish tip.
The owner sets fire to the waste (usually composed of discarded furniture) when the pile gets too large, they say.
After four months of putting up with the eye-sore and the fumes, locals presented a formal complaint to the council, the Guardia Civil and the Environment Department.
“We have known about the existence of this rubbish tip for about two weeks but we have to remember that it is a private property and authorities cannot access the area and clean it without permission,” said Mayor of the town Rafael Torres.
The Council has opened disciplinary proceedings for the owner, urging him to clear the site within 15 days.
