BARCELONA player Gerard Pique has been fined €10,500 for his aggressive attitude towards a local policeman who had given his brother a parking fine.
Judge Maria Asuncion Gonzalez, head of the number five court in Barcelona, reproached the footballer in her sentence for his contemptuous attitude and verbal and gestural aggression towards the officers in October 2014.
The amount of the fine was dictated by the judge in accordance with the defence’s request and taking into account the footballer’s financial situation.
The sentence, which can be appealed against at the Barcelona provincial courts, warns Pique that if he does not voluntarily pay the fine within seven days of notification of the sentence, he may face one day in jail for each two days he does not pay.
