Coastal upgrades for Torrevieja

IMPROVEMENTS Government officials check out work in Torrevieja and the new pedestrian path in La Mata.

A TOTAL of €505,118 has been invested by Alicante Coastal Service to undertake repairs and emergency measures along the promenades of La Mata and Playa de Los Locos in Torrevieja.

Government Delegate in Valencia, Serafin Castilian, visited the works in a section of the municipal park of the Molina de Agua in La Mata, accompanied by Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, and various government officials. Castilian stressed the government’s commitment to improving and preserving the Alicante coast, which saw an investment increase of 181 per cent during 2014 compared to 2013, a trend that is maintained this year, receiving a budget of €3.2 million, a 52.4 per cent increase from last year.

Work has included emergency repairs on the footpath in La Mata, repairs to masonry at Playa de los Locos, which was destroyed in recent storms, and improvements to the pedestrian path in La Mata, which has also allowed the recovery of more than 5,000 square metres of beach.
