THE ceiling of Torrox’ Courts Archive collapsed on Friday (February 27) due to damage produced by wastewater.
Judicial records, files, dossiers and other documents were damaged by the water, Justice Workers’ union STAJ in Malaga Juan Antonio Luque reported, adding that the server where trial reports and evidence are kept has also been damaged.
The building has presented bad conditions for a long time, said Mr Luque, as the facilities were constructed more than 150 years ago.
“If a person with disabilities comes to testify, the judge has to hear their statements at the front door, because there is no elevator,” said Mr Luque, and continued: “Fortunately, there were no casualties this time, but one day something more serious could happen”.
