NEW lights being installed in Las Lagunas have reached Calle Rio Benamargosa, where eight new LED lamps have replaced the 11 old-fashioned lamps previously on the street.
The Plaza Fuente de la Seda, behind the Town Hall, has also had new lamps installed, saving an estimated 7,100 watts of electricity between the two.
Mijas council is gradually replacing old-fashioned streetlights with money-saving and environmentally-friendly LED lamps, with San Javier, San Cristobal, Rio Velez, Rio Campanillas and Rio Fuengirola streets the next on the to-do list, Energy and Efficiency councillor Jose Francisco Ruiz Fontalba explained.
