HORN blasts and policemen’s whistles broke the peace in the centre of Marbella yesterday (February 25) as chaos broke out due to surprise road-works.
The re-surfacing project in place in Marbella landed on the Avenida Ramon y Cajal, a stretch of which was closed to traffic on one side. Vehicles were diverted to a lane on the opposite side of the busy street, causing severe traffic jams for most of the afternoon.
Irate drivers filled social media sites with complaints and questions as to why the work had been done in the daytime on such a busy street.
Meanwhile the council declared that the works were included in this year’s re-surfacing project and that diversions and police presence had been laid on.
