NERJA is recycling more than ever before with a whopping 169,608 kilos of plastic containers collected in the town in 2014.

This figure represents a 14 per cent increase on 2013, according to Francisco Zurita Escobar, head of the Malaga Provincial Council Environmental Services department.

Mr Zurita added that the number of rubbish bins has been increased in the town and that the council had launched special campaigns to encouraging recycling in different schools around the town, including Narixa, Joaquin Herrera and Virgen del Mal.

In fact, Nerja was chosen recently as the setting for an advert to encourage recycling in the province of Malaga. Specifically, the ad was shot in the Calahonda Beach and the Balcon de Europa (Europe’s Balcony).
