Drugs skirmish sends policeman to hospital

A GUARDIA Civil officer required medical treatment after a skirmish on a Marbella beach that ended with eight people arrested and almost two tonnes of hashish confiscated.

A police patrol spotted the suspects at 1.30am on Bahia de Marbella beach unloading cargo from a speedboat.

Although the group reportedly fled in all directions when they realised the officers were there, they were all caught.

One of the men wrestled with an officer and they both fell into the sea, resulting in the policeman being taken to the Costa del Sol hospital with signs of hypothermia.
