SAN JAVIER airport workers say they are not moving to Corvera airport “now or ever.”

The acting Chairman of the Works Council of Aena, Peter Blaya, told the President of the Murcia Region, Alberto Garre, that workers in San Javier are “not going to go to your private airport now or never.” It comes following last week’s protest against plans to close San Javier and Garre’s announcement that he was working to safeguard all jobs.

Blaya also announced the filing of a complaint with the European Commission for embezzlement relating to suspicions of fraud affecting public funding of the EU.

A letter was shown from the Commissioner of Competition of the EU, in which it warns that if Spain granted further state aid to the completion and opening of the airport at Corvera such public funding will have to comply with state aid rules.
