FIVE-YEAR-OLD schoolchildren from the Virgen de la Antigua Public School have visited Almuñecar Town Hall to learn more about how local government works.
They enjoyed a guided visit by head of the Protocol department, Alberto Garcia, who started the tour at the events hall, where children were taught about the four institutional flags – the European, the Spanish, the Andalucian and the Almuñecar flags.
After paying close attention to his explanation, they were taken to the plenary hall, where they observed that all the chairs looked the same except for one.
One of the children explained that it was because ‘The director sits on that one,’ after which, Mr Garcia told them about the different representatives who form the local government.
The guided visit continued throughout the rest of the rooms, and finally the children were greeted by the Youth and Institutional Relations councillor, Maria del Mar Medina.
