WORK has started to create the first 150 €1-a-day parking spaces of the 1,000 the mayor of Estepona recently promised to build over the next four years.
An underground car park will be built on three levels underneath Plaza Antonio Guerrera. Local residents were asked to contribute ideas for the final design of the square, yet it is not yet clear whether the emblematic yellow dome (which gave the area its local nickname, egg square) is to remain in place.
Another site on the list of possibilities for future cheap rate car parks is Plaza del Ajedrez (chess square).
