PARENTS in Coin are up in arms as the nursery school their children attend may well have to close next month unless government grants arrive.
Although the Junta de Andalucia regional government’s Education Department has approved grants for the 70 children at the nursery, paperwork to enable the funds to be passed on has not been formally signed.
Parents explained that a group of teachers who run the centre, which opened last September, are having to pay more than €2,000 per month themselves to keep it running but have announced they cannot keep it up.
Coin mayor, Fernando Fernandez, promised to press the matter and transfer funds from the council to keep the nursery going in the meantime after receiving letters from parents complaining about the situation.
