Improvements to Mojacar’s Rio Agua bridge

WORK has started to widen the bridge over the Rio Aguas which connects Marina de la Torre and the Rumina Roundabout by Calle La Mata.

The contract for the work has been agreed at a little more than €79,000, well under the original budget of €83,000. The aim of the project is to improve safety and upgrade the pedestrian connection between Marina de la Torre and local businesses.

The work is expected to be completed in 10 weeks and involves the widening of the existing pavement to a safer width of between two and four metres, new street lighting, installation of railings and the construction of steps for easier access to the Mojacar football ground. The area will be further enhanced aesthetically with the installation of benches and a garden area.

The mayor of Mojacar, Rosa Maria Cano Montoya, stated: “These works are in response to requests from residents and the local hotels to enable easy access for people staying or working at the Marina de la Torre hotels and to encourage walkers to go through areas like El Palmeral with its bars, restaurants and businesses, or venture along to the Parque Commercial.”
